Core Course Requirements for the Master of Arts Program
The Masters of Arts degree in Psychology is a 30 unit program. In addition to the below core requirements, students in the M.A. program take a number of electives which are pre-approved by their advisor. Included in these electives are, for example, graduate seminars in social psychology (Psych 255T) for those with a special interest in Social Psychology and graduate seminars with a developmental emphasis (Psych 200T) for those with a special interest in Developmental Psychology. Students also have the option of signing up for Psychology 290-Independent Study (see the university catalog for further details) if they are involved in a faculty research project. As a culminating experience, students are required to complete a three to six unit thesis.
